Vastu for a villa or independent house
In a villa or independent house you control more than in a flat, so check the plan before construction or purchase. Start with the main door and the staircase, then the kitchen, the master bedroom and every toilet. Plot shape, slope and the surroundings also matter, and a consultant reviews them separately.
These rules are a draft rule set, pending review by our consultants. Treat them as a guide, not a verdict.
What to check in a villa or independent house
- The main door and facing. Good main door zones are N, NNE, NE, E under the 16-zone school and N, NE, E under the 8-direction school. See the house facing pages for each direction.
- The staircase. Good zones are S, SSW, SW, WSW, W under the 16-zone school and S, SW, W under the 8-direction school.
- The kitchen. Good kitchen zones are SE, SSE, S, W, NW under the 16-zone school and SE, NW under the 8-direction school.
- The master bedroom. Good zones are SW, S, WSW, W under the 16-zone school and SW, S, W under the 8-direction school.
- Toilets and the centre. The schools avoid toilets in NE, N, NNE, Centre, SW, SE, E, W, S under the 16-zone school and NE, Centre, SW, N, E under the 8-direction school. Keep the centre of each floor open.
- What the check does not read. Plot shape, slope, boundary walls, water tanks, borewells and neighbouring buildings are not scored by the online check. A consultant reviews them on request.
Good and avoid zones for each room
Zones are measured from the centre of the home with North verified. A zone that is not listed is neutral for that room.

Questions people ask
Is Vastu different for a villa than for a flat?
The room rules are the same. A villa adds the plot, the staircase and the facing of the whole house, and at plan stage most rooms can still move.
Can the check read a plot or site plan?
Not yet. It reads the rooms of a floor plan. Plot shape, slope and surroundings are reviewed by a consultant.
